Yesterday I had the opportunity to introduce the Palmer GADS Model for Delivering Digital Learning on a Budget at the Learning Technologies Digital Experience.
Because of social distancing, this year the conference was virtual. It was important to me that my session wasn't just about people listening to me. I wanted it to be an opportunity for me to learn from them as well.
The learning & development community are always happy to share and help others develop. After all it's what we do isn't it. Yesterday was no different, in fact the response I got to one of my questions was so good I wanted to share the output so others can learn from our amazing community as well.
The question relates to the Audit phase of GADS, where you identify what resources you have available to deliver your learning. Resources include people, time and digital learning development tools. It also includes other technology and tools you may have access to such as Microsoft Office, an intranet site or LMS, mobile phones, Facebook, WhatsApp or even a chatbot.
I asked attendees the following question to get their ideas:
What resources could you potentially use to deliver digital learning?
And what a wealth of ideas I got back, I list these below - there are some things on the list I need to research myself. I haven't made decisions about what's useful because only you know what's a great idea for your learning requirement:

I know I'm going to spend some time exploring how these ideas can make a difference to the learning experiences I'm responsible for designing and delivering. If I have any major wins I'll share them in a future blog.
I have one further idea to share with you - something I forgot to mention at the conference. Take a look at what you can download from the Internet. It might be something you can download for good - or you may be able to download a trial version.
Be careful though because trial versions usually have a time limit. This may mean that if you wish to update something at a later date you may hit a barrier. Although you may decide it's worth allocating some budget to a licence - after all that's why trials are available.
One thing to be particularly careful of is that trials don't always include the full functionality. I've lost moments of my life I'll never get back building something in a trial version only to find that download capabilities are not included in the trial version - very frustrating.
If you are considering downloading something then don't forget to let your IT teams know beforehand. It will quite possibly save you a lot of anguish at a later date.
My talk will come out on video once the conference is over. When this happens I'll add a link to www.learningperspectives.co.uk/resources. I'll also update this blog so you can download it from the Learning Technologies resources if you prefer.
If you're wondering where you can download the GADS model it will come as no surprise to discover it is also available from the Learning Perspectives resource page.
